Young Digital Leaders Curriculum 2019

Young Digital Leaders is a Europe-wide programme, developed by ISD, and supported by Google.org, that aims to empower young people through digital citizenship, critical thinking and media literacy skills that reach beyond the classroom, so that they can be truly empowered as responsible digital leaders.

The Young Digital Leaders curriculum consists of five sessions targeted at students aged 12-15 years old. In line with the Council of Europe definition of digital citizenship, the curriculum aims to support students to: 

To achieve these aims, the curriculum offers session plans and guidance for five sessions: Critical Consumers, Resilient Citizens, Effective Communicators, Rights Experts and Digital Leaders. Across these five sessions, students will develop their knowledge of key concepts, the skills they need to identify online harms, the effective behaviours needed to interact respectfully, and the attitudes to play a positive role in the online community. 

The sessions can be adapted as needed by practitioners and are a fun, innovative and engaging way to help young people learn about digital citizenship and online leadership. This curriculum, in conjunction with the accompanying Digital Deck, provides all of the information and guidance needed to deliver the programme.

Getting parents and carers involved is paramount in order to ensure sustainable behavioural change of children, both offline and online, so this next generation of young adults paves the way for safer, more responsible uses of the internet.

The start of the KA2 project "Youth Volunteer Educators e-learning Program"

e-VELP’s primary aim is to enable young migrants/refugees to create and offer free workshops that tap into their talents to share their knowledge and culture. The program will work to ease their integration into their new environment and open more opportunities for finding work. Building an active community of motivated young migrant/refugee volunteer educators (VEs) and youth volunteer educator trainers (VE-Trainers) is an essential part of the growth foreseen for the e-VELP project.

În perioada 11–17 martie 2020 s-a desfășurat în Adana, Turcia, cursul de formare Erasmus+ „Introduction to the European Solidarity Corps”, bazat pe tema voluntariatului, pe promovarea cetățeniei active a tinerilor, în general, și a cetățeniei lor europene, în special.

#GEYC10 CHANGEMAKERS - CONTEST RESULTS

GEYC a sărbătorit 10 ani de activitate în martie 2020, ocazie cu care am organizat concursul „#GEYC10 Changemakers”, prin care am recompensat 10 tineri care s-au remarcat de-a lungul timpului. Candidaturile persoanelor pre-selectate, prezentate în câte un articol, au fost evaluate de un juriu independent format din 5 persoane și supuse și votului publicului în perioada 01.03.2020 - 12.03.2020. Acesta a fost organizat în cadrul proiectului KA2 Youth Workers 2.0, întrucât Comunitatea GEYC este prima comunitate digitală de tineri din România, iar scopul acestui proiect este de a promova utilizarea instrumentelor digitale în lucrul cu tinerii.

#GEYC10 Impact Report Executive Summary

Cu ocazia aniversării #GEYC10, echipa GEYC lucrează la un Raport de Impact al Comunității GEYC, a cărui bază este reprezentată de răspunsurile persoanelor înscrise la concursul #GEYC10 Changemakers. Raportul integral va fi disponibil la geyc.ro/publications în luna aprilie, în limba engleză. Acesta este realizat în cadrul proiectului KA2 Youth Workers 2.0, întrucât Comunitatea GEYC este prima comunitate digitală de tineri din România, iar scopul acestui proiect este de a promova utilizarea instrumentelor digitale în lucrul cu tinerii.

On the occasion of the #GEYC10 anniversary, our team is working on a GEYC Community Impact Report, which will be based on the #GEYC10 Changemakers survey. The full report will be available at geyc.ro/publications in April, in English. The Report will be included in the KA2 Youth Workers 2.0 project, as the GEYC Community is the first digital youth community in Romania, and the purpose of this project is to promote the use of digital tools in working with young people.
