Between 28 November – 3 December 2025, Marrakech hosted the No Hate Embassy Final Conference, bringing together young activists, youth workers, educators, and civil society representatives from across the Euro-Mediterranean region. Representing Romania, the GEYC team of fellows — Ioana, Maria, Cătălin, and Teodora — showcased their national campaign developed during the 6-month fellowship focused on combating hate speech and promoting inclusion.
What Is the No Hate Embassy Project?
The No Hate Embassy (NHE) is an international project focused on promoting critical thinking, non-formal education, and youth activism to counter hate speech in the Euro-Mediterranean region. It supports the values of tolerance, inclusion, and diversity through research, training, publications, and a 6-month campaigning fellowship for youth workers.
Main objectives:
- Mapping hate speech narratives in six countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, France, Italy, Romania)
- Strengthening young people’s critical thinking regarding online propaganda
- Supporting CSOs in promoting intercultural dialogue
- Deconstructing hate speech narratives through a Euro-Mediterranean fellowship
The GEYC Fellows’ Journey
Earlier in 2025, the fellows participated in a training course in Italy, where they designed their national action plan. The Romanian team chose to address hate speech directed against the Roma community, one of the most persistent forms of discrimination in the country.
During six months, the GEYC fellows organized community events, Living Library sessions, school visits, youth workshops, and online campaigns — all aiming to build empathy, challenge stereotypes, and create inclusive spaces for dialogue.

Moving Forward
Although the project has officially concluded, the mission continues. The GEYC fellows plan to further replicate their workshops, engage more young people in dialogue about discrimination, and expand their initiatives across Romanian communities. The Final Conference was not an ending, but a launchpad for future collaborations and impact.
Through solidarity, education, and creativity, young people can — and do — rewrite the narratives shaped by hate.
