The Crossroads Project aims to encourage intercultural solidarity and active citizenship to improve how future generations respond to crises. It focuses on helping young refugees and migrants become active members of their communities.
The project seeks to connect global issues, such as migration, with local solutions and responses, empowering people to take action on these interconnected challenges. To achieve this, the project will promote knowledge and cultural exchange between partner organizations, directly impacting young people's lives. It will also work to create an intercultural community that continues to grow and support one another long after the project ends.
What is the goal?
We aim to empower young refugees and migrants (16-24 years old) to:
- Build connections across cultures.
- Learn new skills through workshops and activities.
- Share their stories and inspire their communities.
Doing so, in the next 14 months, the project will address 5 main intended learning objectives (ILOs):
- Empower young people to adopt a systems-thinking approach to social issues incorporating personal, local, national and global factors.
- Provide a suite of educational resources which will support young refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants to build intercultural solidarity amongst their peers and within their youth organisations.
- Redefine the dialogue around indigenous responses to crisis to develop a strong intersectional approach.
- Provide a space for young people to become active citizens and share what is important to them with their community.
- Promote the transfer of knowledge between partner organisations, in particular to increase their capacity to interface with young people on global issues.
