Call for 4 Romanian participants (no age limit): Training Course in Vieste, Latvia (19-27 October 2015)

GEYC is selecting 4 Romanian participants, to take part in "Youth exchanges for begginers" European project that will take place in Viesite, Latvia from 19 to 27 October 2015. The main aim of the youth exchange is developing and implement international youth exchange projects. Deadline: 12 August 2015 | Apply now!

The training will take place in „Turbas” Recreation Centre in Latvia. The centre is situated 40 km from Riga and 5 km from Ogre. Riga International Ariport is the main airport in the region. You don't want to miss the chance of visiting beautiful Riga.

About the project:
Training course project “Youth exchanges for beginners” is aiming to involve 35 youth workers / youth leaders who have a wish to start working at international level, specifically using international youth exchanges as a tool for young peoples competencies development. The main aim of this training course – is to promote youth exchanges as tool for creating more opportunities for youth with fewer opportunities, to gain needed social competencies. 



The objectives of the training course are:

1. Provide participants with knowledge how to guide young people in personal development through Non-formal learning;

2. To experience and explore benefits of international cooperation and international youth exchanges;
3. Provide knowledge how to use youth exchanges as a tool to motivate young people and how to guide them in the project development phase;
4. To explore how different methodologies: creativity, drama, social media, social entrepreneurship can be used in youth exchange projects and help youth with fewer opportunities.

Methods: learning of participants will be assured through practical tasks, simulations, working in small groups, intercultural learning methods. 

Expected outcome: The project partners expected that projects will be created by the participants.

Selection criteria:
- youth workers and youth leaders willing to start working at international level, specifically using international youth exchanges as a tool for young people's competence development
-gender balance

Additional criteria for participants selection will be:
- Directly working with young people (youth workers, youth leaders);
- Have some experience in learning at international level (participated themselves in a youth exchange or a training course);
- Willing to use youth exchanges as a tool for working with competencies development of youngsters with fewer opportunities;
- Willing to learn more about international communication, cooperation and intercultural learning;
- Willing to explore and use non-formal education as methodology;
- Able to participate in whole duration of the learning process;
- Committed to disseminate project results in their local realities;
- Opened for follow up of project: establishing a certain network of people who are working as a youth educators.
- Able to understand and explain themselves in English;

Timeline:




  • until 12 August 2015: submitting the application form
  • by 20 of August: selection of participants, notifications and confirmations (paying the participation fee - please notice that the participation fee is non-reimbursable) 
    Note: if you won't receive an e-mail by 20 of August 2015, it means that we found other suitable candidates for this project. 
  • by 25th of August: arranging the travel details (please be ready to cover your travel costs) feel free to check geyc.ro/flights for the current price level. GEYC will support you throughout the booking process and the reimbursement procedure; 
  • between 19 and 27 of October: the training course will take place

  • Financial details:
    The organizers will cover the following costs with the support of the European Commission: 
    • 100% of meals, accommodation, activities costs; 
    • Transport cost up to 275 EUR per participant
    Participants will be required to cover: 
    • a participation fee covering administrative costs for this project (the fee will be paid in RON, by bank transfer; the fee will be paid after the participants are selected). Please don't pay any fee before you receive the confirmation e-mail): 225 RON (50 EURO) for GEYC Community (please note that for this call we will consider the members that joined the Community before 4 August 2015) applicants and  360 RON (80 EUR) for other applicants (GEYC active volunteers are not required to pay the participation fee); The fee is calculated at a fixed exchage rate (EUR=4.5 RON) 
    • (if needed) transport cost - only the amount exceeding 275 EUR
    • (if needed) medical insurance; 
    • (if needed) any other personal costs.

    Relevant information 
    • In order to start their travel, Romanian participants should own a valid ID card or passport.
    • Arrangements regarding medical insurance are the responsibility of the participants.
    • In order to be reimbursed, Romanian participants should start their travel from Romania.
    • Please make sure you have read and accepted the terms and conditions of GEYC European mobility programs before you apply.
