Call for nominations: UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education | DL: MAY 26 2021


During our Spanish edition of #GEYCTalks - Charla Igualdad de género en tiempos del COVID-19 en Europa y América Latina, which marked International Women's Day, Dr. Yuchi ZHAO, the coordinator of the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education, announced the official launch of the call for nominations for the 2021 edition and presented this opportunity which aims to honour outstanding and innovative contributions made by individuals, institutions and organizations to advance girls’ and women’s education, improving the quality of their lives.

UNESCO is pleased to announce the launch of the call for nominations of the 2021 UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education

Funded by the Government of the People's Republic of China, the Prize annually awards US$ 50,000 to two laureates to continue their work in providing girls and women the education they deserve. 



  • Interested candidates meeting the selection criteria are invited to contact their Permanent Delegations to UNESCO, National Commissions for UNESCO, or NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO to participate.
  • The nomination process takes place via an online platform, accessible to the UNESCO Member States and NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO.
  • The deadline to submit nominations is 26 May 2021.
