GAME ON YOUNG EUROPEANS! A workshop to empower the European Youth



On the occasion of Europe Day (May 9th, it is our pleasure to present the Workshop "Game On Young Europeans!".



WHO?

The Workshop is developed and supervised by our colleagues, Filippo Zattin and Jade Andrzejewski, trainees at the GEYC - Group of European Youth for Change and Prisma European Network.


Jade is enrolled in the last year of a masters’ degree in International and European Cooperation at Sciences Po, in France. After an exchange program in Tokyo, Japan, where she studied international law and foreign policy, she decided to engage herself in the European Union’s external action and Youth engagement. She wishes to become a European diplomat.
She has an interest in the European Defence Policies, Space Exploration, Youth Activism, and Artificial Intelligence.
Filippo is enrolled in the last year of a masters’ degree in European and Global Studies at the University of Padova, in Italy. During his bachelor's degree, he worked for the University and had the opportunity to collaborate with the think tank DANE, which enabled him to publish his first research on political communication.
His passion for the European project led him to enroll in a European studies master’s and to work towards his goal of becoming a European foreign policy analyst and journalist.


AIMS

The Workshop has the aim to introduce Romanian high-school students (17-19 y) to the European decision-making process and its institutions in an interactive and innovative configuration while developing crucial skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking proficiency, that are essential to citizens engaged in their political community.



FORMAT

The Workshop has the aim to introduce Romanian high-school students to the European decision-making process and its institutions in an interactive and innovative configuration while developing crucial skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking proficiency, that are essential to citizens engaged in their community.

Practical details:

  • language: English;
  • the Workshop will be held during the second week of May, from the 10th to the 15th;
  • duration: 120 minutes for each class and will be divided into two 60 minutes sessions. The sessions will be scheduled with 48h in-between;
  • technical requirements: an efficient internet connection and access to a computer;
  • the workshop will be done via Google Meet. However, it is possible for the students to be in the class together with their teachers and to connect online with the workshop facilitators;

Students, divided in two groups, will have to compete to design a mock project as if they were going to present it to the European Commission. Projects must offer innovative solutions to the issues of climate change or youth disengagement:

  • the first session will be used to present the rules of the game and to give the students all the necessary tools and knowledge to prepare their project following the guidelines of the European decision-making process;
  • the second session will allow students to present their projects, answer questions and build a dialogue with each other, the teacher and the workshop facilitators.
