π‘ About the Project
Global warming is a fundamental threat to all people on earth, but in different ways: The lifestyles of the rich are the main cause of the greenhouse effect, while people in the Global South suffer the most from the consequences such as drought, heatwaves and floods. Poor and young people in the North and South of the world in particular are bearing the consequences of a climate crisis that they did not cause. This training is about exploring Climate Justice, nurturing resilience and empowering action. We invite active youth workers who want to deepen their commitment to sustainability and climate justice at both local and international levels.
π― Objectives
- Understand the bigger picture — ecological and social systems under pressure, and how local and global crises connect
- Learn about vulnerability in the changing climate and explore climate justice movements
- Food justice — learn about food sovereignty through an interactive workshop with an activist and a hands-on excursion to a local urban-gardening initiative in Frankfurt
- Grief work — in a workshop with Koala Kollektiv from Frankfurt: learn how to make space for loss, and find collective strength in the shared feeling
- Dive into different forms of activism — and find out how queer-feminist and anti-racist movements center marginalized perspectives for a more inclusive, and resilient society
π₯ Target Group
- Participants: Aged 18+;
- The project is open to a wide age range of youth workers, although most participants are expected to be involved in youth
- Young people from diverse backgrounds (rural/urban) or facing fewer opportunities;
- particularly welcome applications from people who had to flee their countries, migrated and/or confronted racism, people with disabilities and/or people from other marginalised groups
