Recommendations | How can stakeholders support the development of youth entrepreneurship?

 

Youth entrepreneurship has an impact on social as well as cultural and economic progress of the society and is a sign that the society is progressing. During the "Entrepreneurship for Young People in Rural Areas" Youth Exchange taking place in Kardla, Estonia, the participants brainstormed together and came up with several recommendations for stakeholders.




Recommendations for schools and universities

  • Universities and schools should help the students find placements in businesses;
  • Universities should provide the students with the necessary technology to start their own businesses, because they do not have experience yet;
  • Schools should add more lessons like accounting, bookkeeping into their curriculum to make the students more acquainted with economics;
  • Universities should increase the scholarships for those who want to continue their entrepreneurial path;

Recommendations for public institutions and authorities

  • Public institutions and authorities should create educational activities and workshops to help young entrepreneurs develop their businesses;
  • Public institutions and authorities should make the topic of entrepreneurship more popular through conferences and events;
  • They should link experienced entrepreneurs with young people through events like TED Talks;


Recommendations for young people

  • Encourage young people that live in rural areas to develop their ideas into a business;
  • Encourage young people to collaborate in order to get financial support for their business;
  • Training, coaching to develop leadership skills;


Recommendations for nongovernmental organisations (NGOs)

  • NGOs should provide teaching courses to the young entrepreneurs;
  • NGOs should help young people make connections and partnerships;
  • NGOs can provide resources (equipment, technology, money) to the young entrepreneurs so their business skyrockets;
