The Women Get Back (WGB) is a Capacity Building project within the framework of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme with 5 project partners from Europe (Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain) and 5 project partners from Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru and Nicaragua).
The project lasted from August 2017 until March 2019 (20 months) and ended in Lima, Peru with a Youth Exchange and a Final Conference.
The overall objective of this Capacity Building Project was to transfer to youth workers innovative training methodologies to improve guidance and counselling, vocational and professional training in EU and Latin America for young women returning to work after a hiatus in their careers, as a result of maternity, illness, unemployment (NEET), or who are in a situation of self-employment.
To achieve this, the following activities were implemented:
- Nov 2017: a kick-off meeting in Barcelos, Portugal;
- Mar 7-16 2018: a job shadowing hosted in Bucharest, Romania for 2 representatives: one from Peru and another one from Brazil;
- Mar 2018: eLearning course;
- May 2018: a training course in Malaga, Spain;
- Nov 2018: a job shadowing for 2 Romanian representatives: one in Peru, one in Brazil;
- Mar 2019: a youth exchange in Lima, Peru;
- Mar 2019: a final conference in Lima, Peru.
Although the project ended, we would like to continue our collaboration with Latin America and our work in the field of gender equality. Therefore, as the Romanian delegation to the Final Conference in Peru, we made an official visit to Unión Europea en Perú hosted by Ms Chiara BELLINI & Ms Ximena SIERRALTA, from the Political & Cooperation section together with Mr George-Andrei ȘTEFAN at the Romanian Embassy in Peru. We got to learn that gender and human rights are key priorities for the EU in Peru.
