The EU-MATTER Phase 1 Report captures the outcomes, learning experiences and key findings from five seminars organised by GEYC and IVC in Bucharest between June and August 2026.
Across the seminar series, young people explored EU institutions and policymaking, European strategic priorities, civic participation and engagement mechanisms, media literacy, critical thinking and democratic resilience. Through simulations, policy challenges, collaborative exercises and exchanges with practitioners, participants were encouraged to connect European-level processes with their own realities and opportunities for civic engagement.
The publication brings together the methodology, learning outcomes and cross-cutting findings from Phase 1, highlighting the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed by participants and the value of experiential learning in European civic education. It also looks ahead to Phase 2 and the EU-MATTER National Policy Labs, where the journey continues from understanding European democracy towards applying knowledge through policy development and civic action.
