At Anna Lindh Foundation Romania, we believe in the power of shared knowledge and collaborative learning. With this in mind, we are delighted to launch a new series of online workshops designed and facilitated by our very own members, a space where expertise, experience, and best practices can circulate freely within our network.
We are honoured to kick off this series with a contribution from the Diaspora Solidarity Group, who proposed the topic for this inaugural session, which took place online, on June 23rd: "Inclusion Lab: Creating Accessible and Inclusive Events". The workshop was specially tailored for ALF Romania members and was facilitated by Teodora Akinola. The session brought together participants for a meaningful conversation around two concepts that are often used interchangeably but carry distinct meanings: accessibility and inclusion. Teodora guided attendees through the similarities and differences between the two, encouraging the group to look beyond surface-level definitions and reflect on how each concept translates into real practice.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored concrete strategies for designing activities that are both accessible and inclusive, whether delivered online or in person. From communication formats and platform choices to physical space considerations and participant engagement, the discussion surfaced actionable tips that organisers can begin applying immediately in their own work.
One of the richest aspects of the session was the diversity of perspectives in the room. Participants had the opportunity to share their own best practices, lessons learnt, and the challenges they have encountered while organising inclusive events. This exchange turned the workshop into more than a one-directional briefing, it became a genuine dialogue, with each participant leaving with new ideas to explore.
This is only the beginning. The series will continue to draw on the expertise within ALF Romania, with future workshops shaped by the topics and interests of our members.
