Youth voices in action: the Intercontinental Webinar on SSE advocacy

On September 30, 2025, GEYC participated in the Intercontinental Webinar on Youth and the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), an important milestone on the road to the Global Social and Solidarity Economy Forum (GSEF 2025).

This online event gathered young people from across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean, and North America, creating a truly global dialogue. The discussions reflected the results of months of local consultations and participatory workshops, where youth identified their priorities, developed key messages, and shaped their collective advocacy.

During the webinar, participants:

  • Presented continental advocacy papers, bringing forward regional perspectives and solutions.
  • Exchanged on common challenges and opportunities, reinforcing the global dimension of their efforts.
  • Prepared the International Youth Declaration, a document that will converge these voices and be presented during the closing ceremony of Bordeaux GSEF 2025 in front of decision-makers from around the world.

The session was accessible to all with simultaneous interpretation in English, French, and Spanish, ensuring inclusivity and global participation.

GEYC’s Role

As a partner in the KA154 project coordinated by GSEF, YOUNG-STEP-EU, GEYC is committed to supporting youth engagement and strengthening their role in shaping the future of the Social and Solidarity Economy. This project highlights the importance of giving young people meaningful spaces to participate, advocate, and influence global agendas.

Next Stop: Bordeaux GSEF 2025

The 7th edition of the Global Social and Solidarity Economy Forum will take place from 29 to 31 October 2025 in Bordeaux, France, hosted for the first time in the country after successful editions in Seoul, Montreal, Bilbao, Mexico City, and Dakar.

This major biennial event will bring together elected representatives, experts, practitioners, and networks from around the world to explore the central theme:
“The SSE as a condition for a just transition towards resilient territories and the well-being of their inhabitants.”

Youth contributions, including the International Youth Declaration, will play a central role in shaping the Forum’s outcomes and the political commitments that will guide the SSE movement for the years to come.

We look forward to continuing this journey at Bordeaux GSEF 2025 and to seeing the voices of young people influence the global roadmap for a fairer, more inclusive future.
