Women Get Back job shadowing experience in Peru

A job shadowing is an unique experience offered by Erasmus Plus programme to professional youth workers to immerse in another partner organisation reality and discover their context.

#învizită „Cultural Mapping of Chișinău on Social Media”, Chișinău, Republica Moldova, 30 Noiembrie - 2 Decembrie 2018

Comunitatea GEYC a organizat o vizită de studiu în Chișinău, numită „Cultural Mapping of Chișinău on Social Media”, aceasta fiind cea de-a doua deplasare externă, în afara României, din cadrul programului #invizita. 12 tineri din România și Republica Moldova au luat parte la mobilitate, însoțiți de trei participanți ai programului EFYL, „European Fellowship on Youth Leadership” (Alina, Călin și Raluca).

Women Get Back: we are exchanging good practices with our partners from Latin America

As part of our long-term cooperation in capacity building and exchange of good practices with our Latin American partners, we will have two job shadowing missions in Peru and Brazil under the Women Get Back Erasmus+ project.

The Context

The “European Year of Equal Opportunities for All” in 2007 reinforced the necessity of combating multiple forms of discrimination and promoting equal opportunities. In Europe, women returning to the labour market are a significant segment of the workforce, yet they are often overlooked in statistics. Studies show that women have, on average, 40% fewer chances than men to be offered a position, highlighting the challenges women face when re-entering the labour market.

In Latin America, women’s efforts have been crucial in reducing extreme poverty. Many women are transitioning from traditional roles into areas previously considered “men’s work,” forming small businesses and initiatives to address violence and support their families. However, prejudices, harassment, and socio-economic challenges persist. Nearly 30% of young women become mothers before the age of 20, often with limited resources, which perpetuates intergenerational poverty and limits their autonomy and life projects.

About the Project

The Women Get Back (WGB) project is a Capacity Building initiative within the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme, involving 5 European partners (Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain) and 5 Latin American partners (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Nicaragua).

The project aims to equip youth workers with innovative training methodologies to improve guidance, counselling, and vocational training for young women returning to work after maternity, illness, unemployment, or self-employment.

Job Shadowing Missions

• Gabriel Brezoiu, General Manager of GEYC, will be in Lima, Peru from 5th to 12th November 2018, hosted by Brigada de Voluntarios Bolivarianos del Peru.
• Adelina Dragomir, Project Responsible of GEYC, will be in Ilheus, Bahia, Brazil from 22nd to 29th November 2018, hosted by Cooperbom Turismo.

Connecting the dots: Young People, Social Inclusion and Digitalisation

This week, our colleague Gabriel Brezoiu - General Manager of GEYC takes part to the "Connecting the dots: Young People, Social Inclusion and Digitalisation" Symposium in Tallinn, Estonia focusing on exploring the crossing between social inclusion of young people and digitalisation, reflecting especially on how digitalisation affects young people’s lives, and what the role of youth policy, youth work and youth research can be in this respect.

TC From inner peace to social progress, Merzouga, Morocco

The TC "From inner peace to social progress" took place during the 3rd - 10th of May 2018 in Merzouga, Morocco, and gathered 36 participants from countries as Romania, Spain, Ireland, Iceland, United Kingdom, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Portugal. GEYC team was represented by Cristiana and Elisabeta, the two participants, that attended the training together with Anca and Gabriel, the trainers of the project.

26th of April 2018, Bucharest, Romania - Forbes Magazine included our colleague, Gabriel Brezoiu - General Manager of GEYC in the prestigious ranking "Forbes 30 sub 30". At the seventh edition, the Gala awards the most remarkable young people from a wide range of fields, from business, sports and art to music or IT, without limiting it to it. We see this as an outstanding acknowledgement of the impact we have in working with young people and youth organisations all over Europe and beyond.

Ne-am întors din schimbul de tineri “Youth Activists’ Lab” (Marrakech, Maroc)

Cum ar fi ca un proiect oferit de Uniunea Europeană să aibă loc pe continentul African și să fie despre o temă de actualitate pentru tot globul? În perioada 21-29 martie 6 participanți din România, Liban, Maroc, Spania, Franța și Tunisa s-au reunit în Marrakech pentru Youth Exchange-ul “Youth Activists’ Lab”. Tema, din ce în ce mai de interes pentru momentul în care ne aflăm azi în lume, s-a învârtit în jurul voluntariatul și activismului social.

Astăzi s-a lansat proiectul pilot „Young Digital Leaders”, coordonat de Google și ISD (UK)

Astăzi a avut loc lansarea proiectului pilot „Young Digital Leaders” la Colegiul Național „Emanuil Godju” din Oradea. Proiectul pilot „Young Digital Leaders” a fost inițiat de Google (Bruxelles) și este coordonat de către ISD (UK) în parteneriat cu GEYC.

Biroul de Informare al Parlamentului European în România, alături de partenerii săi, Asociaţia Pro Democraţia (APD) şi Group of the European Youth for Change (GEYC) - te invită să afli mai multe detalii despre proiectul "Promotori pentru democraţie europeană" şi să te înscrii la cea de-a patra ediţie, care se desfăşoară în perioada februarie-octombrie 2018. Acest proiect îşi propune să implice în fiecare an câte 30 de tineri în promovarea democraţiei şi a valorilor care îi unesc pe cetăţenii Uniunii Europene.

YE - "GENDERation" Malaga, Spain

From 24/01/2018 to 01/02/2018 the Erasmus+ Youth exchange GENDERation took place in Malaga to promote and facilitate non-formal education methodologies on gender equity. 

A little bit of Arabic taste in the heart of Bucharest

GEYC, with the support of Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, Comite Des Etudiants Francophones Gaudeamus, Embassy of Tunisia in Romania and University Politehnica of Bucharest, organized on 8 November the "Voix-Voie" event which presented the extraordinary experiences lived by our colleague Gabriel Brezoiu, general manager of GEYC, in Tunisia and by Lamia Ajala, member of Association la Voix de l'Enfant Rural -AVER.

#SupportMoldova: Official visit in the Republic of Moldova of Mr Gabriel Brezoiu - General Manager of GEYC

From 17 to 22 October 2017, Mr Gabriel Brezoiu - General Manager of GEYC had an official visit in the Republic of Moldova in the frame of "Support Moldova" Strategic Cooperation Programme (2016-2018) initiated by GEYC with the support of PRISMA European Network.

#xplorTN - How it is to live 30 days in the northern Africa

GEYC (Romania) & AVER (Tunisia) decided to join the Euromed Exchange Programme organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation and thus to exchange experiences in the youth and cultural fields as well as to reinforce the cooperation regarding future projects. Following this decision, our colleague, Gabriel Brezoiu, packed all the necessary things, made a lot of research about the northern Africa and left for one month to Tunisia.

Coucous workshop in Tunisia #xplorTN

As many of you know, our colleague, Gabriel Brezoiu, participated to a Euromed Exchange Programme organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation and left for one month to Tunisia. In this month, beside the non-formal education workshops that he led for the young people, activists, youth workers and young professionals in Tunisia, Mr. Brezoiu learned also how to cook an authentic Tunisian meal.

HTML Basics & Social Media - a great chance to get familiar with coding

On 12th October we have organized "HTML Basics & Social Media" workshop for the young people in Bucharest that were interested to get a first contact with HTML coding and website development.

Învață elementele de bază în HTML și află cum poți „programa” cu ușurință propriul site web. Pe parcursul workshopului fiecare participant va lucra la propriul laptop în timp real. Evenimentul se desfășoara la București, la Spațiul Public European pe 12 octombrie 2017 și face parte din EU Code Week. Evenimentul este organizat de către GEYC cu sprijinul Asociației Techsoup prin programul ”Meet and code”. Termen limită pentru înscrieri: 5 octombrie 2017.

EN: It is our pleasure to present the achievement of "Support Moldova" Strategic Cooperation Programme (2016-2018) after one year of implementation. We are glad that we had the chance to start our involvement in the Republic of Moldova and thus to support the young people and youth organisations from there.
